On 30 October, the BENEFITS project will host a policy dialogue in Brussels on how better impact measurement can shape policy and investment decisions in social services.
The session, Advancing social services through evidence-based policy, runs from 13:00 to 14:00 CET at the European Economic and Social Committee as part of the EASPD event Building communities for all with quality support. Participants can join in person or online.
Social services play a vital role in building supportive and productive communities. Yet the social, economic and environmental value they bring to individuals, communities and society is often hard to capture and communicate. A recent BENEFITS analysis of 66 Beyond GDP frameworks found that care services feature in only 20% of them. This data gap makes it harder to justify investment and to plan support that meets community needs.
The dialogue will explore how stronger impact measurement methods can provide that evidence and guide future policy and funding. Speakers will include:
- MEP Nela Riehl, Member of the European Parliament (tbc)
- Peter Benczur, European Commission Joint Research Centre
- Diana Dovgan, CECOP – CICOPA Europe (tbc)
- Bilal Almobarak, Support Group Network, BENEFITS project partner,
